Privacy policy

Last updated: September 12, 2026

Free Autism Test ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website freeautismtest.org. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our site or use our self-assessment tools.

Information we collect

Assessment data

When you take one of our screening tests (AQ-10, AQ-50, RAADS-R, or M-CHAT-R), your answers are processed entirely in your browser. We do not store your quiz answers on our servers. If you choose to share your contact details after the test, we retain only what is described below, not your individual question-by-question answers.

Contact and results information (optional)

If you choose to provide your name and email address after completing a test, we collect:

  • Your name and email address
  • The age range and gender you selected
  • Which test you took and your score band (whether your score met or fell below that test's screening threshold)

We use this information to add you to our email list, if you opted in, and to send you a results explanation email. Providing this information is entirely optional and is never required to see your results.

Analytics data

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site. This collects anonymous, aggregated information such as:

  • Pages visited and time spent on the site
  • Referring website or search engine
  • Browser type and device category
  • General geographic region (country or city level)
  • Quiz start, quiz complete, and lead submission events, tagged with the test taken and score band, but never your individual answers

Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique visitors. This data is anonymized and cannot be used to personally identify you. See the "Cookies" section below for more details.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Calculate and display your assessment results in your browser
  • Add you to our email list and send a results explanation email, if you opt in
  • Send occasional educational content about autism and neurodiversity, if you subscribe
  • Understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it
  • Monitor site performance and fix technical issues

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies

Our site uses the following types of cookies:

Essential cookies

These are necessary for the site to function and include cookies that remember your cookie consent preference.

Analytics cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_*) to measure how you interact with our site. These cookies collect information anonymously and report site trends without identifying individual visitors. You can opt out of analytics cookies through the cookie consent banner shown when you first visit the site.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies. Note that disabling cookies may affect how parts of the site function.

Data retention

  • Assessment answers: Not retained. Processed in your browser only.
  • Email subscription data: Retained until you unsubscribe. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Opt out of analytics cookies using the cookie consent banner or your browser settings
  • Unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email we send
  • Request deletion of any personal data we hold by contacting us
  • Access your data by requesting a copy of the information we have about you

Children's privacy

Our site is intended for teens (13+) and adults, and for parents or guardians completing the M-CHAT-R toddler screening on a child's behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you are under 18, we do not collect your email address through the assessment. Minors are shown their results directly without a contact step.

Not HIPAA-covered, not medical advice

Free Autism Test is not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA, and the information you provide here is not protected health information under that law. This site does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing on this site or in any email we send should be treated as a substitute for professional medical or clinical guidance.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Since we do not store assessment answers on our servers, the primary risk vector, sensitive health information storage, does not apply.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
